Disable or Uninstall BundlesIQ
This guide explains how to safely stop BundlesIQ processing, disable specific features, or fully uninstall the app.
Disable Processing (Without Uninstalling)
If you want to stop BundlesIQ from processing orders temporarily while keeping your bundle configurations intact:
Option 1: Disable Order Processing
- Navigate to BundlesIQ > Settings
- Disable Process orders and/or Process draft orders
- Click Save
BundlesIQ will stop processing new orders immediately. Existing bundles and configuration are preserved.
Option 2: Deactivate All Bundles
- Navigate to BundlesIQ > Bundles
- Open each active bundle and set the status to Inactive
- Click Save
This stops BundlesIQ from detecting those specific bundles on orders while keeping the definitions for later reactivation.
Option 3: Use Processing Scope
- Navigate to BundlesIQ > Settings
- Set the processing scope to Tagged only
- Leave the include tags list empty
- Click Save
No orders will match the empty tag list, effectively pausing all processing.
What Happens to Existing Orders
When you disable processing:
- Already-processed orders are not affected — their transformation remains in place
- Orders in progress (currently being processed) will complete their transformation
- New orders containing bundles will not be processed and will retain only the ghost SKU line item
Uninstall BundlesIQ
To fully remove BundlesIQ from your Shopify store:
Before Uninstalling
- Verify no orders are currently in the
BIQ_PROCESSINGstate (check the Health dashboard) - Consider whether you need to keep the bundle processing tags on existing orders
- Note that uninstalling removes the app's access and webhook subscriptions
Uninstall Steps
- Navigate to Shopify Admin > Settings > Apps and sales channels
- Find BundlesIQ in the list
- Click Remove
- Confirm the removal
What Gets Removed
| Item | Removed on Uninstall? |
|---|---|
| BundlesIQ app access to your store | Yes |
| Webhook subscriptions | Yes — Shopify removes them automatically |
Order tags (BIQ_PROCESSING, BIQ_READY, BIQ_ERROR, BIQ_REVERTED) |
No — tags remain on orders |
Order metafields (bundles_iq.transformation_audit) |
No — metafields remain on orders |
| Transformed order line items | No — component line items remain on orders |
| Ghost SKU products | No — your Shopify products are not affected |
| Bundle definitions in BundlesIQ | Preserved — available if you reinstall |
| Shopify fulfillment holds | Released — any active holds placed by BundlesIQ are released during uninstall |
What Gets Preserved
- All previously processed orders remain in their transformed state
- Ghost SKU products remain in your Shopify catalog
- Order tags and metafields remain on orders
- Your bundle configuration data is preserved in BundlesIQ's systems if you choose to reinstall later
Cleaning Up After Uninstall
Remove Tags (Optional)
If you want to clean up BundlesIQ tags from existing orders:
- In Shopify Admin, use the order filters to find orders with the
BIQ_READYtag - Select orders in bulk and remove the tag
- Repeat for
BIQ_PROCESSING,BIQ_ERROR, andBIQ_REVERTEDtags
Remove Metafields (Optional)
BundlesIQ order metafields (bundles_iq namespace) remain on orders after uninstall. These are not visible to customers and generally do not need to be removed. If you want to remove them:
- Use the Shopify Admin API or a metafield management app to bulk-remove metafields in the
bundles_iqnamespace
Ghost SKU Products
After uninstalling BundlesIQ, your ghost SKU products remain in your catalog. You can:
- Keep them if you plan to use BundlesIQ again or another bundle app
- Archive them if you no longer sell bundles
- Delete them if you are sure you will not need them (this is irreversible)
If you keep ghost SKU products active without a bundle app processing orders, customers can still purchase them. The order will contain only the ghost SKU without component expansion. Set ghost SKU products to Draft or Archived status if you want to prevent this.
Reinstalling BundlesIQ
If you reinstall BundlesIQ after uninstalling:
- Your previous bundle definitions may be recoverable (contact support)
- You will need to go through the onboarding process again
- Previously processed orders will not be re-processed
- You should run the Go-Live Checklist before processing real orders again
